I agree with your article except for this remark which I found remarkably out of place.

"The travel companies are NOT to blame. Like any business or commodity, prices are dictated by supply and demand."

Let's look at this. Travel companies know they have a captive audience in June and July, and deliberately boost the cost of holidays by 50% to sometimes 100%.
Travel companies do this unilaterally.
In good times they are coining it in.
In bad times they may be cross subsidising off-peak holidays.

But let's not portray them as innocent victims of a neutral market.
We now have only 2 major holiday providers in this country.
Thy know t and they know that most of us have no options.

I think maybe wrong, but I do not know the individual as a holiday should be given greater importance

Has the government considered parents who work in the service industries or in agriculture when the peak season does not allow them to take their holidays? They would normally wish to take their children on holiday during the low season or the shoulder months. Should they then be deprived of holidays? Proscribing holidays outside the academic summer holiday takes no account of real life. I absolutely despair of this government.

Travel with your family used to be regarded as an educational enriching experience for children. It seems strange that only trips with schools have that status now. Schools go on ski trips during term time, (leaving behind the children who can't afford to go!)but a family trip doing the same would be decried.
