The Teaching Awards are an annual celebration of teaching and learning. The Awards were established to help build morale and generate national pride in the teaching profession. They aim to:

•    highlight the vital role of education in the social and financial welfare of Britain
•    honour and thank teachers, heads, teaching assistants and school governors publicly
•    encourage the sharing of expertise in education
•    promote teaching as a career
•    involve a wide spectrum of stakeholders in education.

Every year, all 29,000 schools across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are invited to nominate their most outstanding heads, teachers, teaching assistants and governors.
